TH, I started hunting big ame 26 years ago.If you count the years I didn't carry a gun until my mom and I sat down and she handed me her's It 30 years. Back then you had to get four-five guys together just to get a doe permit. You didn't expect to see Mongo everyday.

Well in the last 15 years this sport has changed for the worst, and I'm not going to be PC and keep my mouth shut about it.

Everythingis geared to make hunting easy and basically turn it into a video game.

Many things that are legal in other states are illegal where I'm from and I'm glad, to be totally honest.

It's hard for me to keep my mouth shut with some of the crap I taking over hunting. Who is politically correct the people that just shut up and go along or te people that say nope that's not hunting?

its the better than you or how dare you attitude, i agree the sport is going down the hill fast, sad but true. If a man wants to high fence and it is legal go for it, if someone wants to shoot a deer with a mouth full of corn go for it, if someone wants to ride with the tailgate down and all this is legal go for it. Its the people who bitch about the legal stuff i dont care for and it is absolutely everywhere.

IMO hunting ethics from an overall hunting standpoint has improved in the 35 yrs I've carried a weapon.I can remember when it seemed most hunters were outlaws or just plain slob hunters. I think things have improved - and its web sites like this that can educate hunters - not blow them away with bashing and trashing.Whatever your opinion is on certain methods of hunting there is a way to voice it here as you would if your were standing face to face - man to man.Its not what you say its how you say it - is the topic. You can agree to disagree.

If a man wants to high fence and it is legal go for it,
How anout a two acre pen? Or a place where you can pick your deer out of a catalog? Or gaurenteed hunts? Good for the sport?

if someone wants to shoot a deer with a mouth full of corn go for it,
You want to use a feeder to make it easier to kill a deer and it's legal I agree go for it.

I see it coming up for a vote where I live and I'm calling my goverment reps to tell them to vote No.

if someone wants to ride with the tailgate down and all this is legal go for it.
I can't understand why it good for the sport but if that's your cup of tea once again go for it. Just don't be surprised that it will turn of non-hunters. Not talking about anti's.

Totally agree with that statement. Don't worry it's only one of the signs of the Apocolypse.

My point on a lot of this is that I think a little preventative public relations on the part of hunters may keep some things that are legal now from becomming illegal. This attitude that the General Public can kiss my #$s if they don't like the way I do things can ONLY HURT the cause. Its a short sighted attitude at best. I have spent 50 years trying to promote hunting and shooting sports. I do it because I love hunting not because I like trying to kiss up to the non hunting public. We can't use the general public to help our cause if we turn them against our cause. They can be our allies or our enemies which would you rather see?

let me say this i dont give a damn if someone wants to shoot a deer in a 1
acre pen "It doesnt bother me phsically or personally one bit" and complaining about it wont chang a thing. Its all about $$$$$$$$ in certain cases and to shoot those big ol bucks like that cost huge amounts. I wouldnt do it, but if someone else wants to anf they get a kick out of it then so be it

I thought this topic was about how we presented our views, opinions,
thoughts in a civilized manner not about what one person thinks is ethical or should be legal or illegal in his state vs some other state vs decades ago vs some regions that might be 2-3 thousnad miles away etc..etc...bla..bla...

got a gripe on a specific hunting subject start a topic in the appropriate forum.

I believe it to be just a matter of using common sense and trusting your judgement. What may be perfectly acceptable in one communtiy may be considered unacceptable in another. If I am going to err it is going to be to the side of consideration.I don't need to push anyone's nose in it just because I can! I want to win people to suppport our cause not show them that I don't give a rats a-- what they think,I am going to do what I want to do BS.We need to be smarter than that!

AJ52, The questions were not exactly on topic, but the had to do with the topic. Sorry if I stepped over the moderating line again.Seen a lot worse on many threads with no mention from any moderator. The personal assaults on the "deer are public view" thread are out of control, but you choose to chastise, could this be personal??
