Deer calls, question????????
#1
During bow season I had good luck with deer calls but now that its gun season I haven't been able to call in any deer. I'm half thinking that it is spooking deer away. Should I leave my calls at home till gun season is over? I'd appreciate any info.

I think its because the rut. Ive noticed that when the rut sets in its always harder to call in deer. Bucks are to busy chasing does and does are busy trying to stay away from other does who might attract a buck. Its just the time of the year.

I AGREE WITH HIGHCOUNTRYsp. i had a little luck with calls in the beginning of bow season but once the rut starts i've tried everything from doe bleats to grunts to HAY YOU DUMB ASS DEER LOOK AT ME. nothing man. deer don't even pay attention to me. males got sex on the brain and u know what the females are saying" oooh he he look who's following me ladies he he he, oh ya big billy buck, u know what they say about billy don't u"! but don't give up maybe only call once in a while, take a week off if you want. come late season though u can never tell. it will be cold, deer will have to feed more to keep calories up in order to stay warm=more movement! i love late season especially when it's calm or a slight breeze and COOOOLD. good luck bro and hunt safe
