I am going to take a previous poll one step further. Which 30 caliber bullet is best for deer? Please assume 30-06 velocities and feel free to let me know if that affected your decision.

I have no doubt that Core-Lokts are the most popular, but I am more interested in how each brand affects bullet choice.

I always shot a 150 gr BT out of .30-06, but I've been shooting a .300 Weatherby Mag for a few years now that I shoot a 165 gr Sierra Gameking Spitzer Boattail out of so I voted the 165 BT

Of those listed I pick the 150 grain Ballistic tip. This would be folloew closely by the 150 grain Sierra Pro-Hunter and the 150 grain Speer Grandslam The Speer bullet is factory loaded by Federal.

I'm not sure about the different terminology. I buy my rounds at Walmart. It just says 150 grain hollow points. I get close to .25 cent groups and the bullet has stopped all my deer right in their tracks. Last years deer had the intestines coming out the other side. Deer died on impact.

In my experience, the Speer 165gn SP HotCor works well in my30-06 for deer and wild pigs. From the poll selection I voted, 165-grain Core-Lokt.
