winchester 130 grain power points. i have taken deer out to 200 yds, w/ no problem. i have taken deer at 30 yds as well and it works well at both distances. just try a bunch of bullets, and whicever ones performs the best, go with it.

I have taken 80+ deer, and most of them with a Ruger M77 Ultra lite 270. I have tried many of the bullets mentioned above, and my gun(which has a 20" light contour barrel)favored 140+ gr bullets, so I ended up shooting Hornady 140 gr BTSP for many years and had great luck with them. My son is currentlyshooting an Encore 270, and he is shooting Winchester 130 gr ballistic silvertips and has had great luck with them. I would suggest picking a couple different bullet weights and see what you gun likes. Good luck with your choice.

My favorite .270 Win Cartridge is empty at my feet whith a dead deer down range... lol IMHO it doesn't matter too much at 150 yards, lots of velocity and energy at that range. Shoot several and see which your rifle likes if you have the time. If you don't have the time I agree with everyone who has posted a response so far.

tbuck, this is the Hornady SST bullet packaged for the big green. I am not sure what it costs for rem. ammo but up here Hornady Custom Ammo is cheaper than most rem factory mo. In my experience Hornady was only second to federal premium in my 270's when it came to best accuracy for Factory stuff...Remington wasn't in the running at all. Just an FYI. As far as the bullet itself, designed to be or compete with the Nosler Ballistic Tip. Should workfine fordeer or lopesbut don't expect anything more than what a Ballistic Tip delivers, as my experience proved very similar performance and one case more damage ensued than I was accustom to with the NBT when meeting the opposite shoulder of a large buck in tight(was fired from 7mm rem mag - 154grSST handload, BTW).

To the poster, like mentioned anything 130-150 would work, however I prefer premium bullets when hunting vs. standard. My 270 loves almost anything 130gr, 140 gr Failsafes and 150 gr Partition. For your situation 130 or 150 Nosler Partition(Fed. Premium if your buyingFactory)would be a good place to start, while it isn't really required this bullet performs very well on deer at most distances from the likes of a 270 and should you happen to hit shoulder it plows through leavingless meat loss thanmany othercup/core bullets. Seeing your saying 150 yards seems to be thelonger shotno real need for a boattail or polymer tip bullet. The 140gr Failsafes or Barnes TSX would also be a good choices, especially if you like to crowd the front quarters!

As always pick the right bullet(s) for the job or your hunting conditions and then let the rifle tell you which one to use. What works for one doesn't always work for another for various reasons....Good Luck

The only Remington bullets that I have tried to use are the Core Lockts. I didn't like them b/c they didn't group very well and they dropped like a brick compared to others I have used.

I also went through two boxes oneday trying to get a good group with them, using my cuz's .270. trying to set his scope.

My uncle will use no other bullet other than the core lockt. I'm just not a remington fan.

Give me a Winchester or Hornandy.

I like the 140 Hornaday's. The deer I hit went down like they were struck by lightning. But then again most were within 75 yrds
