Default Finding acorn trees?

What do white oak trees look like? Red Oak trees? The land I hunt is mostly clearcuts, but there is some patching woods. How can I locate the acorn trees?

Red Oak has more Rigid Bark... and the White Oak trees have smoother Bark! Theres several varietys of each... Look for Acorns on the Ground under the Trees.... are hangng from the Limbs.
I have set under the same White Oak Tree for a few years. Kileld a nice Spike, and a Dandy 8 point last year. It's a good feeding area... on a Ridge.

Red oak leaves lobe ends are pointed whereas the white oak have rounded lobes. Deer prefer the white oak acorns.

Don't call them acorn trees......
N H set ya straight, if you are still confused or don't know what an oak leaf looks like check a field guide.
You can usually find a grove of white oak up on a flat.

Acorns would be the first clue, but to tell the difference in the oaks, it would be a lot of help to you to get a good dendrology book with color pictures.

NHHunter hit it. But there are an awful lot of kinds of oak trees. So if you really want to get the thing into your bones and you have no one to show you, get a tree guide from the library and take it into the woods. Can't miss.

Dendrology is basically the study of trees and how to tell the different trees. Fldeerman, check my e-mail, I'm not sure who JJ is.
