Red Oak has more Rigid Bark... and the White Oak trees have smoother Bark! Theres several varietys of each... Look for Acorns on the Ground under the Trees.... are hangng from the Limbs.
I have set under the same White Oak Tree for a few years. Kileld a nice Spike, and a Dandy 8 point last year. It's a good feeding area... on a Ridge.
