I am looking to purchase some new rattling antlers. Is there anything specific I should be looking for? Sound, size, shape? Previously I used a rattle bag with some success, but I would like something a little more realistic. Any help given would be a great help. Thanks.

I use a 10 point set that scored about 110". I picked them up at a garage sale and they are very comfortable in my hand. I too like real antlers I think there is no substitute. Bags and synthetics may work but they don't have that real sound. If you have no access to a real set laying around then maybe check some sales or ebay. They don't need to be big just as long as they are comfortable in your hand. You may cut the brow tines off to make room for your hands. The downside is real antlers are bulky to carry in and just one more thing to juggle around up in the stand. But they are my personal preference.

There is no substitute for the real thing. I use sheds or some of deer I shot. Get a good size set, they don't have to match. The synthetics or bags just don't sound like the real ones, nor does the sound carry as far. Just MO. Good luck.

I agree, the real thing works the best. I have tried rattle bags and have never had a deer come in. As a matter of fact, I have spooked bucks with them. They can come close but they can't duplicate mother nature. If you can't find any sheds just buy a small set off of ebay for next to nothing. Good luck

Agreed, real is best. Try ebay if you can't find your own sheds. The fresher the better. I use about a 65" four point mulie shed with a 75" 6 point whitetail shed. It may seem like overkill but our buck/doe ratio is fairly high up here and I find I get fewer little ones responding to the bigger antlers. Remember to saw off the brow tines, they only get in the way and you'll end up bashing your knuckles enough as it is.[:@]

I use a couple sheds from roughly 130 class bucks... I cut off the browtines anduse the same side from two different bucks, they fit together nicely for packing. Nothing like rattling in bucks with the sheds you found!
