there are a lot of good ideas floating around i think with a few scientific facts to go with some or all of these ideas one thing that does seem to work is wait for the biguns before you shoot im lucky here on ohio we have a lot of mature deer matter of fact we have to many deer now they have upped the number of countie with a 3 deer limit of course we only get 1 buck but we get 2 does

txhighrack, i do think that trophy units are a good thing. most people who would be hunting these areas also know what a trophy buck would look like. i beleive u would not have people shooting little basket 5 points and think they got a "trophy". most who put in for that tag know what the area holds for deer! and they would take only a true trophy.
i beleive if more states did a trophy area, they also would get a higher price for those tags. look at iowa= over $400.00! and NEW MEXICO elk areas some are $750.00! why? because of the demand for the trophy areas!
i think it really works and more states should try it!

Here in Pa it depends on who you ask. Lots of hunters are very happy with the better bucks we are seeing because some of em live an extra year that would've died without AR.
We also get some noise from a few that had to pass on that little buck. Overall its helped the buck hunting here but Pa instituted a very heavy herd reduction plan at the same time and that is having mixed success/ failure and is really detracting from the benefits of our antler restrictions.

A buck limit would be better rather than putting antler restrictions on them. Here in Tennessee we went from being able to shoot 11 bucks to only 2 a few years back then they bumped it up to 3 the following year. Last year we really started seeing a better crop of bucks and some people have been seeing better bucks the last 2 years.
