Camera setups

What are your opinions on filming setups? Do you like to have the camera on the same tree or set up on another tree. For communication reasons the same tree would be best however it gets harder to hide 2 hunters in good set locations, unfortunately in most of my spots deer come in 360 so it becomes difficult to get a set where the camera might not ruin the shot opportunity

Same tree, above hunter is VERY important. Commnunication is critical between the hunter and cameraman. Without it - you're asking for trouble. Several of our teams had the cameraman below the hunter this past season - and it results in poor footage because of the angle (bright sky behind hunter makes hunter very difficult to see).
We have set-up in different trees before, just because of tree size, or issues with getting two stands in a single tree. Sometimes it can work, but it is not the desired set-up. Worst case you can always set the cameramans stand directly above the hunter (about 8 feet above). In certain circumstances, you just have to make it work as trees are never easy to set-up. Every set-up is different, but generally you try to get the cameraman's stand about 4 ft. above the hunters stand, on the opposite side of the tree.
