Default Montana Elk questian ?!?!?!!

Hi All,

We're on our way to Montana!! FINALLY!

Thanks for all the advice y'all gave me already. I really appreciate it. I have been doing quite a bit "long distance scouting" using internet, phones, maps, and aerial photos.

We are (were) planning to hunt area 620 and 621 in the Missouri Breaks. Some biologists expressed concern that the warmer weather may make elk hunting a little tougher in the beginning of September.

We are not planning to hunt real close to the river.

So, a few more questians...

1. Is it too warm for good elk hunting in the Missouri Breaks area 620, 621 ??

2. Any warm weather elk advice?? wallows? ridge tops? crick bottoms?

Thanks in advance,

Country Boy

I think the biologist you are talking to does not know how to hunt elk in warmer weather.
The elk will still be there no matter what the weather is. I promise you that the elk did not fly north to the artic circle for the summer. The temps have been in the high 80's to low 90's. This is typical for August weather. The weatherman says the weather should cool off by Wednesday? Highs are supposed to be in the 70's for the opening weekend.

Good Luck,

WK
