I' m going out to Montana leaving Oct 24th and I was wondering if we should be concerned about rattle snakes at that time of year. We are going to be camping out around the Fort Peck Reservoir and my brother was asking. Our tent will have propane heat so should we be concerned with holes in the tent where critters could get in or is it late enough where they' ll be in hibernation mode???

I currently live in Great Falls, MT. From my experience I would say you shouldn' t have to worry to much about rattlers, unless it is unseasonably warm while you are here. It has already frosted here, so the snakes should be heading in to den for the winter soon. Hope this helps ease you mind.

I would not worry about snakes that time of year. Keep your food sealed up well & keep a clean tent/camp. There are mice around that will be looking for easy snacks & a warm place to stay.
Also bring a varmit rifle, there are plenty of coyotes around.

I live about an hour west of Miles City, and we haven' t seen many at all this year. By the 24th of Oct. I would concur that you won' t have to worry.
Good Luck!
