This will be my first elk hunt and first trip to NM. We have drawn tags for the Gila Wilderness, Unit 16 B. My dad, grandfather, and I are all extremely excited. I have got some great feedback from this site thus far. I am interested if anyone has hunted this unit/neighboring units and if anyone can provide some tips for hunting this unit. 16b is a rough area you will need to get back about 7 miles to get into the big ones. Are you doing this by yourself or a guided hunt.
