If you're wanting to see tons of deer and have a chance at a decent animal think about South Dakota. www.huntsd.net

Arizona and New Mexico... The Predators basically have a free ride, some are protected, a few drought years and The Game and Fish want to blame it on Drought, Why doesnt the drought hurt the over expanding Elk herds? Why is it that when the Elk move into an area the Deer seem to vanish? because they cant compete for food?
Arizona has wised up some what, they sell Deer tag holders Elk tags over the counter to keep the Elk from taking over..... Why cant there be more game units for just Deer herds to build not decline?
It is projected from the Mexican Gray Wolf being in NM and AZ in 5 years there wont be enough Elk left to have a hunt... there was alot of big mule deer in most on AZ and NM before the Elk got reintroduced, now the Wolf.
Doesnt take much of a Game Manager to do the math on this situation...

The AZ game and fish sold deer tag holders north of the colorado river elk tags to keep the elk herds down in numbers...would let a hunter take any elk while hunting deer... I am not sure if they are doing that this year... but a few years ago they did...

Not Colorado (atleast in our area) between the winters and the lions. We got 2% of the deer we had 20 years ago.
