Wyoming Elk Hunting
I been looking at doing a last minute elk hunt in area 129 does anyone have any info on this area? it looks really big. My uncle use too live in the gillette area for many years and i have yet to ask him any info. As i was reading i see this area was General License Any elk. I assume that this means there is no limit on license avail in this area compaired to other areas? Any pointers would be great
thanks

"General Elk" implies exactly that.
I don't have my USGS quads handy, but I think I'd check to make sure I could access the area before I committed to a hunt. That's my old speedgoat range, and if memory serves me right, most of it is privately-owned (be prepared for a trespass fee or exclusive leases to guys who call themselves "guides").

Ok, this area was just recently created within the last 10 years. There are not many elk in this area and most of it is private like stated above. However my friend and his dad did see a few elk that were very close to the borders a few years ago. Everything is worth a try but it will be tough. Did you draw a license this year? If not you will have to wait until next year.
