Hey Slee,
How's the season going? Where specificly have you been hunting? The Walk-In? I just was just wondering because I talked to some hunters that I didn't know, I never asked and name or where the came from but they weren't local. I was just wondering if maybe one of them was you. I will check this post regularly for a reply from you.
If it's brown, its down

No, wasn't me BrushChimp. I've been going in off of Elk Creek Rd. If you take Elk Creek Rd 'til it becomes gravel, then take the 2nd road to the left(45something?). I have been hunting along the Seven Creek area. I've found some fresh elk sign, but have yet to see an elk. That creek bottom on either side of the road gives access to several ridges and clearcuts, which seems to be the attraction. The downside is it's lots of thick ground to cover for 1 guy over a few days. I'm going back down Saturday morning, and staying the remainder of the weekend. Hopefully I can get lucky and locate elk like I did on the last weekend of the first season. BrushChimp, I'm wide open to suggestions on how to hunt this area. You can shoot me an e-mail if you want.
They are calling for rain, so I have to decide whether it's the Chevy with a tarp over the bed for my bed, or the mini-van without the seats for my bed. They're both 2WD, so I'm not doing any serious off-roading anyway. I could bring a hunting video to watch in the mini-van while I'm eating dinner though. What do you guys think?
Hunt hard, live right, and tell your kids you love 'em!

Wayne, glad to hear that all the birds weren't wiped out last season. What's the earliest in the season that I can get into my spot up above the powerlines? My buddy Dan probably isn't coming out, so I may look at coming a little earlier this spring. I sure do like the warmer/drier weather and less crowding of early May though. Birds are definitely more call shy by then, but our group has always gotten at least 1 bird out of that section either around camp or above the powerlines. Hmmmm.
It'll be very interesting to see how the hunter #s change if they seperate and raise fees for turkey tags. I think the numbers will stay pretty high, since turkey hunting is very addictive. But I sure would like to see less crowds, especially on the west side. They definitely need to weed out some idiots statewide.

Sounds good Wayne. Next time I'm over that way, we've got to have a little longer meeting. Maybe a steak and a cold one or two. Maybe even a hunt too.

Wayne good to see you back and posting was starting to wonder if you had left us!! Good luck this spring!!! If things go right I might be back at Fairchild doing a swapout with a jet, but it looks like it will be in April, so I might get to turkey hunt!!
