Hey everyone I came across this site while searching for information on Hunting in Wyoming. Alot of good information here from some knowlegable hunters! I am setting up a hunt for myself and a couple friends before we graduate college and go our separate ways. The hunt will be this upcoming Fall 07 for Antelope and possibly Mulies in Wyoming. I was looking at area 108 for Antelope just south of Rawlins. It looks like there is alot of BLM land in the south 108, high drawing odds and90% Harvest rates. Here is a map of the area http://www.mytopo.com/previews/output-ha/WY-ANTELOPE-108.jpg
Has anyone hunted this area? What kind of terrain can we expect? Enough water to hold game? any information regarding this area of hunting wyoming in general would be greatly appreciated. This will be my first hunt out west so I'm looking forward to a good time.
Thanks all....God Bless

I also forgot to add that we are all very responsible and have been hunting together all our lives. From our home hunting grounds of Michigan's UP to Hog hunts down south...so we know a few things about hunting but nothing about hunting out west.

I hunt 52 to the east of 108, you should be able to get you goat on the south end of 108, you'll have to be real careful inthe checker board areas some of the rancher can be real jerks.
I mite look at your drawing odds in 53 and 52, there's more big blocks of public land.
you"ll see lots of 13 and 14" buck in any of the areas, with a few 15 and some may be longer.

thanks gotlost I would rather hunt areas 52 and 53 since they havemore public land however 52 & 53 have relatively low drawing odds, do you know if there is a public road that you can use to reach area 108? It looks like 71 will get us half way there and from there sagebrush road?

No pref. points, and it doesn't look like doe tags are available for area 108. I was thinking about entering the special draw but it might be hard to sway the rest of the guys to spend $200 more. Would it be worth it to spend the extra money tohunt area 52 or 53? I was told by a group here from Michigan to go to area 23 near gillette but it doesn't look like there is alot of BLM land in this area.

52 and 53 both have reduced priced doe fawn tags/ $42 each
I'd put in for 108 type 1 as1st choice and put in for points, then put in for the reduced price doe/fawn tags. they do'nt count on the point sys.
