They reduced the number of special permit hunting days in the St. Helens area.
Runs after the general hunt season starting on a Monday to Friday. Looks like
no weekend hunting if you apply there and Weyerhaeuser normally opens thier gates on weekends only.

Just looked. Man I'm miffed!!!@!
My muley hunt went from two weeks down to only 8 days.
That's hardly worth setting up camp.
In another forum somone asked why hunting is on the decline in Washington. Well, duh, no wonder.

Actually isn't it 9 days? The Okanogan and Chelan county units they cut back from 14 days to 9 days, as the buck to doe ratio was getting too low. Can't blame them for that. Wildlife management should be based on science, not just to provide the most opportunity for hunters. The did add a few of the late season permits, so you ought to have a better chance of drawing one of those.

Ya' made feel a bit better with that extra day I flashed on. Still miffed though.

The buck doe ratio last year was higher for the bucks than I've seen in more than 25 years of hunting in the area. I guess the look at the number of bucks taken. Last year not many. The first week of the regular season I couldn't decide whether to take my "sun screen" or my rifle. In years past, there would be at least 5 bucks hanging in the immediate area of my camp.Last year it was a big fat 0. Hopefully the 2pt's I saw last year sprouted the bonus point (for me not them). Them good ol' boys in Olympia sure know their stuff don't they.

I'm finished ranting, I guess I'll be there anyway.
