Default Deke Question

I have heard of people painting pop bottles colours to look like ducks just to make their spread look bigger. Good idea or not???

Hell, just break down and buy some cheap Flams. They've been working real good for me for the last 4 years and haven't had any paint trouble yet.

That's what I would do as well, buy some cheap decoys. Maybe second hand.
If you can find some old beaters just paint em black, and mix into your spread, they'll stand out from a distance.

Your idea will work better if you mix them with some decoys.

I too would go with cheap decoys instead. One thing you could try is weight one of the ends of a pop bottle and make it look like a feeder.

Thanks for the help. I'll try to find some cheapies but if I can't I'll go with the pop bottle idea. I already have a dozen dekes, just trying to beef up my spread a little.

We used to do it when i was in high school, it works great in the timber for a primary decoy (it takes very little wind to move them) Open water if you are using large spreads (ex: 8-10 dz) it doesnt hurt to paint them black and maybe one or two white for an attractor.
