Default Price for mounting

I am planning on mounting the first drake I shoot this year, hopefully.
I was just wondering the cost, or about what it would cost chances are it is going to be a wood duck or pintail
also if anybody knows the cost to mount a pheasant that would be great.

The old saying "You get what you pay for" holds very true when it comes to taxidermy. You should be able to get a quality mount for around $200. Most taxidermists charge similar amounts for ducks and pheasant. Don't try to save $50 on something that you can cherish for many years to come. Good luck on getting that first bird.

I've gotten mine mounted for $90 for a sitting mount and $95 for a flying mount. Great work and very good pricing from this guy.

When me and a friend of mine were looking through the hunting section of a sporting goods store there was a duck mounted and it looked like he was flying out of the water cause they had glass coming out from under it. I can't wait to get a pintail or woodie....I would probably mount either of them, or a mallard of there were a good story behind it, or if it was banded or something liek that

Check out waterfowler.net Shane Smith is one of the very best...he's not cheap, but he does GREAT work...not a feather out of place...he's gonna do all my birds anymore...at least until I quit shootin' 'em or he quits stuffin' 'em...truly beautiful work.

It looks like he does to great work. 225 isn't too bad, especially for the quality of the work. I will have to look into who did the mounts at the stores I was at, try to shop around some, but I will definately consider him.

The taxidermist I use is probably the best in the state of OK on birds. Last year was $175. I have had four birds done by him and they are all excellent quality. Anyone interested send me a PM and I'll try to send pics and his contact info.
