Vast majority are gonna say the semi. The third shot is critical in many cases and a workhorse mentality is what you are going to prefer with a waterfowl gun. Duck guns take a beating in most cases and usually you'll want a cheap, versatile gun rather than a field grade double.

here would be my preference:

1. semi
2. pump
3. double bbl
4. bolt action
5. single shot
6. muzzle loader
7. archery
8. falconry

I'd have to second that and recommend a semi (Browing Gold if you've got the $) or a pump (Remington 870).

I'm a 12 gauge semi-auto chauvinist. So therefore, I'd say a semi-auto 12 gauge in either 3" or 3 1/2". I would also say synthic or camo with a 28" barrel.

I use my Benelli Nova pump 12 ga. It can use 2 3/4" to 3 1/2" shells and it is cheaper than other shotguns..It is very easy to carry and easy to clean and everythings that u need to do.. It is my best shotgun I ever use. I use it for ducks, geese, uplands and clay shooting.. My wife shot it and like it, so I am planning to buy her 20ga shotgun Benelli for my wife and two sons.. It is lighter for them to carry...

If you've got the $$$, Benelli Super Black Eagle. Simple mechanism, easy to clean, reliable. Between me and my hunting buddies, we've hunted with, it seems, just about every different shotgun in the harshest conditions. We all ended up shooting this gun. I will say, sometimes we do take doubles. No chance of a jam because of mud, rust, or any other debris.

yeah i'd go with the semi auto. you'd be suprised how many times you will need the 3rd shot. The semi will also take some of the recoil out for the really heavy loads.
