For those who reload your own non-toxic shotshell loads (steel, bismuth, tungsten, etc.), how do you prove to the game warden that it's non-toxic? I shoot a 16 gauge that I've never hunted with, and I would like to. But finding non-toxic loads for a 16 gauge isn't easy. And by the way, it's a modern gun so it will handle steel or other non-toxics.

Out of 30 years of waterfowl hunting I have only been checked a handful of times by the game warden. The only thing they ever checked on ammo was, that only 3 shells would fit in my gun and then they used a magnet to make sure it was steel not lead.

Give him one if he asks along with all your information.. Its his duty to prove it isn't what you say it is.
I've loaded hundreds of 10 ga steel shot many years ago. It was an experience loading shotshells and I had my "miscues". But I tell you what, using my old Mag10 with 3 1/2" shells full of 8 shot on doves was good practice for waterfowl. And that ball of 8 shot flying through the air looked like a swarm of gnats.
