He said that die hard duckhunters only hunt the late season.

Why' s that .... is there some kinda glory/honor in sitting out there in frigid temps that makes it better than going out when it' s 75. Honestly I do like it when it' s cooler but that won' t stop me from going out early season. Last year early season here in Ohio was about 95. It was miserable, but quess what ....we saw birds. Opening day here this year was really pretty good. Upper 60' s low 70' s and a steady shower all day. He can say that die hards only hunt late, but you know what.... we' ve already been out one day, taken 4 geese in a new field we found and know what changes we need to make. Looking forward to getting out again on Sat. Personally I think early is great. I agree with JimPic
shoot ' em while they' re stupid.

If they were " die hard" they' d be there from day one.

Teal season opens here a week from Saturday...guess where I' ll be? And yes, it' ll probably be in the upper 80' s or low 90' s.

I figure I have to wait 9 months for it to finally be duck season again I don' t care if I sit out there in shorts and tee-shirts sweating and not see a thing. I' m in the great outdoors, away from the wife and work, have a loaded gun and my dog next to me........ how do you pass that up and call yourself a diehard???

Thank you all for your replies and encouragements. I feel the same way as all of you. I have one more question for you...

Is there a good video that show duck identification? I am looking for something that not only shows the waterfowl up close, but also shows flight patterns and what not. Thank you all again.

Bob

Early seasons are meant as an population control of certain species, for instance Canada geese in most areas are almost considered as pests due to crop damage, fouling park lands/ golf courses, etc. Consider the spring season for snow geese, put in place to protect what is left of their breeding grounds.
