Default Canada Goose with 20 gauge?

Can it be done with a 3" magnum load and a full choke?

Yup. Geese can be killed with a good hit from a 20gauge, just like any duck can. My personal favorite for Duck hunting is a 20 gauge semi auto. My dad has it now, as its what he prefers as well. Though, I do take my 12 ga with just in case.

Thanks.

I asked because I picked up a 20 gauge to hunt wabbits with, but I've discovered there are a LOT of geese in the area where I've been deer hunting. I'll just have to pick up the right stamps first.

There is no way you can kill geese in Colorado with a 20 ga. You have to have a 12 ga 3 1/2 inch magnum. It's the law.

Thats the stupidest thing I've ever heard. It says that no where in the rules and regs.

I've killed geese in Colorado with a 20guage 3 inch mag load no problem. Hell BlackCloud even makes a 20 guage magnum load that would work great.

I'd be more worried about shooting steel from a full choke then anything. Keep the shot size small and you should be ok. Anything above #2 or 3 might cause serious problems.

I was kidding! All I hunt with is a 20 ga. I killed 200 geese last year with a 20 gauge with 2 shot. Can you say sarcasm????

Edit-Changed from 300 to 200 because I forgot I didn't hunt near as much as usual last year.

Gentlemen, feel free to discuss the merits of 12 gauge versus 20 gauge for goose hunting. From the comments, it would appear that you actually agree on using a 20 gauge. It doesn't help the forum or discussion to misstate the actual law, although it's noted it was said in jest but without any emoticon or other clue to indicate said jest. Any of the involved parties can PM me if they have further questions on the issue.

When your joking, it's probably not "actual law".

However, I should say I'm sorry. if anyone miss understood.

I'm sorry you don't know enough about hunting to know that was a joke!!!
