#2 steel shot traveling 1500 FPS out of the 20ga is the same as #2 steel shot traveling 1500 FPS out of the 12ga, just not as many bbs when they reach the goose. If you can put the bbs where they count, it wont matter which gun they came out of.

I got a 20guage when I was 12 and shot everything from wabbuts to ducks to deer with it.

IIRC it was an IM with rem nitro #3. My old mossberg took beating, its gone swimming in the duck creek near green bay more than once. Sure kicks like a mule though.

That gun dropped geese just like the guy next to me shooting the 12guage.
