Default General waterfowl hunting questions

Hello everyone,
Wondering if someone can guide me in the right direction on some waterfowl hunting basics. Usually stay in the Elk forum but I am trying to broaden my hunting horizons.

Will be hunting relatively flat land, with some creeks running through.

Is a blind absolutely neccessary or will good camo and/or natural cover work best?

Is it nec. to sit at the head of a V pattern? If so, still need a blind?

Ducks/geese don't tend to graze fields for that long by me, given I live around a migration route, should I still scout the night before?

I've read that some people don't use decoys and still have a successful hunt. Should decoys be pulled off only if you're not having success?

If there's anything I am missing in the general waterfowl wisdom please chime in as I really appreciate the help....

Thanks,
Tim

For fields ive thrown a piece of burlap over me and threw natuaral vegetation on that. If you can find a depression too lay in so much the better. Camo always for waterfowl,, including a facemask.

Dont set your dekes in a V.Set them in one largeblob,, or smaller familygroups. Ifits a swathed agricultural field,, concentrate them on the swaths. You can use the swaths as your blind as well,, remember too put them as found when leaving.

Best too scout the day before,,, not absolutely neccessary if in a high traffic area. Play the wind.

Dont always need dekes,, its alot more fun though decoying then pass shooting,,, my preference anyways.

Staying camoed is key, be real still and you dont need a blind.
Try light decoys first and if you have a good response then go from there.
