I just switched shifts at work, so I can no longer go out duck hunting every morning (I've only been duck hunting for 3 weeks, but I got hooked hard core!). So, has anyone had any luck with hunting duck in the afternoon and early evening? And I could also use any tips on calling, decoy spreds, camo/blinds, and any other tip for duck hunting that could help out this new hunter.

Evening hunts can be hard dependin gon the sunlight and cloud cover.
We hunt wood ducks in the evening and never kill any unless its cloudy. The key is knowing where they roost and catching in flight before they get there also before shooting time ends, good lcuk withit

evening hunts actually have their fair share of up sides. not as many guys hunt evenings as mornings, so sometimes the hunting pressure is lighter and the good spots are more available. i love hunting evenings and do it as often as possible. one advantage it has over mornings is the fact that you can effectively scout before setting up in an area. at kaw lake in northern oklahoma, i always get there at 2 or 3 pm, get on the binoculars for at least 20 minutes, and find out exactly where in the millet the birds are going. this can lead to many successful hunts. remember that the hunting is going to start out slow and get better in the evenings, so stay out til shooting time. you'll probly bag a couple of birds every time in the last thirty minutes of shooting. effective calling and a natural looking spread will bring birds to your feet. make sure you study the birds evening pattern cause its not always the same as in the morning. sometimes geese and gucks will go from field to field throughout the day and then end up coming back to roost on a lake from a completely different direction. a couple of hunts and you should have a pretty good idea of whats working and whats not, but stay confident because the evening hunter can get into some pretty special hunts

Cornfields and Robo-ducks thats all you need to know!!! We put out as many as 10 robo's and just wait, as said before you have to give it until legal shooting is over. It can happen fast and get exicting right before dark. We have layed there for a couple of hours and then shot our limits in 10 minutes.
As far as calling goes....the best way to learn without a teacher, is Buck Gardners Instructional tapes. Hands down the best way to learn, he makes it easy!
Good Luck, and welcome to waterfowling!!!
