Default 2 3/4" Mags or 3"

Do 2 3/4" magnum steel loads work good for ducks?

2 3/4 work fine, used'em for 3 years. I prefer 3" though if Geese are on the menu though, however, most steel going over 1450 FPS is bad news for waterfowl.

Even though they used 2 3/4" shells for years and some people still use them, I really prefer 3". If you are going to do much duck hunting at all, I would upgrade. I woudn't waiste my money on 3 1/2" unless you were going to use it for turkey hunting. The 3" has a much better pattern than the 3 1/2" in my opinon.

For me, with steel, I need all the help I can get, I use 3". But if I was in your case, I would choose some heavier than lead nontoxics and kill some ducks just fine with 2.75".

2 3/4 " number 3's or 4's. For ducks any day. No need to shoot 3" mags for decoying ducks. Maybe just maybe for pass shooting.

I like 2.75" for jump shooting and decoying small ponds/beaver ponds and rivers. They work just fine.
