Default Can I shoot...?

We're well into the waterfowl season up here in Manitoba. Let me tell you this is the worst season in years. Every night we go out to spot goose, find where they eat supper, secure persmission to hunt, dig shallow coffin pits, set out decoys, then just as the birds start to show up, some dyck-head(s) pulls up on the mile road between us and Oak Hammock, and blasts away at fly overs, nothing falls and the birds flair away, needless to say they don't set into our decoys. These geese are anywhere between 50-100+ yds away. My question is can I shoot these pass shooters? I promise I will only shoot them in the butt, it won't kill them, but they know what a pain in the butt they are. It's not like we have a shortage of geese around here. We are staging area for the Mississippi flyway.

Tikka, Oak Hammock is a hit or miss deal because of what you said. Haven`t hunted there in years. But contrary to what you have said about the season in general, my partners and I have been having a great year, especially on geese. Give Grants Lake a try. You don`t have to sign in anymore just first come first there. There are tons of Mallards flying around there. We also go to the south Perimeter(5 miles S. of the Mint on Crown Land)where there are thousands of geese(got a limit of Greaters in an hour and a half on Thanksgiving. Give Libau Marsh a try, there are more ducks there than in the last five years.Been shooting Sandhills there too.I have some buds who go to the West Perimeter and they have real good success there. The birds are hear, I asure you. So, good luck with the hunting. I am off to the S. perimeter in an hour for the afternoon and evening flights to invite some more geese home for dinner<img src=icon_smile_tongue.gif border=0 align=middle>.

Let em land!

Tikka, we got two limits of Greaters this afternoon. This was great pass shooting with hardly any work at all. We were back by 7PM.

rbduck,
This has happened to us not only on the north side of Winnipeg, but it has also happened on the west and south sides that you mentioned. Like I said, we found fields loaded with geese. We do everything that a HUNTER does. Then some lazy slob, who can't be bothered to spot, secure permission, pit in, setup decoys ($$$), drives around in the morning and shoot's at anything that flies over. Why don't they go set up on the firing lines at Oak Hammock, or the Water Treatment plant on Wilkes with all the americans who don't want to hire guides.
