Thread idea
I'd like to start filming my hunts this year and it seems like more and more people are showing interest in doing the same. My problem is that I don't have any experience with a video camera. I've seen in the past where a thread is posted to the top of a board (like the "Sales/advertising" on this board) for tips on taking photos of your hunting success. But I've never seen one for video.
Would it be possible for some of you more experienced (professional or amateur) videographers to post some or all of your tips. Things like camera settings, recommended accessories, editing, common mistakes and how to avoid them, etc.
Tell it to me (and others) like we're stupid, because when it comes to videography, I know nothing. I'm just looking to speed up the learning curve a little bit and Ihope there are guys out here that would like to help. After all, that's what this site is all about, right?
Maybe the mods can start a new thread, or you can just hi-jack this one.
Thanks in advance.

RE: Thread idea
You learn from experience. I just started last year and already made it to TV. I read the manual inside out a few times and tried different things a lot. White balance learn it and live it, and dont go into digital, stay optical.

I won't try to complicate you with too much detail.
I'd be glad to give you some advice.
Not sure of your budget...if you're looking to go with low cost..
Get yourself a new mini DV cam at Walmart $250 bucks.....and carry the camera with you on all your hunts....video everything...you can get a 40 dollar gorilla arm camera arm to hold your camera in the tree...
Here is how I started 6 years ago in video editting and I made some sweet videos on DVD of my kills with music.
1) A Cheap Mini DV Cam - $250
2) Camera Arm - $40
3) Cheap Tripod for on the ground shots $30
4) Pinnacle Studio 12 video editting program (Basic) - $45
It took me 3 years to realize this....Camera shake will kill your memories on video...Don't settle for anything less than perfect...keep camera shake to a minimum.
PM me if you have more questions....these are my tips for a new starter...
only my opinion...but I assure you ....I made mistakes...so this is my final recipe for a new guy...
Good Luck!
Brian
