What is the best value?

I've been looking around and think I like the
Sony HVR-V1U HDV...

Does anyone have any comments on this camera, or suggestions to perhaps go a different way in this price range?

I have the V1U and like it a lot. It has a 20x zoom compared to a lot of the other cameras which have less. Go to B and H and add it to the cart, it is aroound $3,300.00. It films in HD or SD and you don't need the HD tapes which will save you a little cash. I would highly recomend this camera.

I've got the HDR-FX1 which is similar but it lacks the 20x zoom. Only has a 12x zoom. It's fine for filming while hunting but I wish I had the better zoom for velvet footage.

I own a Z1U and I've used a V1U many times. I like the Z because it is better in low light....but I like the 20x zoom on the V.

If I had to choose between the two.......it would be a tough decision.
