RE: Dove tactics
Find water close to the fields they are feeding in and on the way to their roost. Camp out there and wait for them to fly in during the evening hours. If you get a good water hole you won't be able to load your gun fast enough. I hunt on the Canadian River right next to fields planted with feed corn that they just harvested. You talk about some action.

I agree with jcinokc hang tight in one spot and let them come you. I'm hunting along side a field and have kicked a few birds up going to my spot but they are usally out of shoting distance. It may depend on your situation. Interesting subject. Maybe different methods.

Thanks guys. I went today. In this heat, walking around is no longer an option. I almost died. Didn't get anything either. But this was our first time dove hunting, so I am not too disapointed. I saw 4 doves. All were at a small pond in the woods right next to some fields. Got one shot off and missed. Man, those things are fast.

RE: Dove tactics
Dove like to have a pond out in the open where they can see for a long distance in any direction like a pond in an open Hay field....Sunflower fields are AWSOME spots to find the doves in....when hunting sunflowers fields that havent been harvested i walk the fields and shoot them as they jump up.....
