Tactics
Seems like we got a lot of Coyote talk here but not much about any Squirrels or Rabbits. So lets get some talk going. What's some of your favorite tactics or methods to use against Squirrels and Rabbits.

Squirrels for me would have to be spot and stalk I grew up squirrel hunting and still love it to this day as a matter of fact I think I will go out later and whack a few "tree rats".
Rabbits would have to be behind my Dad's Beagles I just love to hear "the race" on a cold frosty morning killing them is secondary to the enjoyment I get from hearing the dogs work and hunting with my Dad.

Spot and stalk squirrels, shoot in head. A lot of sitting and waiting, too.
I try tospot and stalk rabbitsbut more times than notI end up jumping them and stalking to their new location. Head shots as well.A few inches of snow helps a ton.
All with a scoped .22

I do both alot but am not having any luck with the squirrel. I'll sit and wait for 1/2 hours at a time and not see anything. Rabbit hunting is a little easier, jump them and shoot em with 20 gauge birdshot. But after a day of 8 rabbits and not having enough meat to eat 1 full meal, I am now using my scoped .17 and looking for headshots only.

Use a ruger 10/22 with a 4x scope for squirrels with stalking and sitting. Rabbits usally behind beagles with a 20 ga. Starting to get into bowhunting small game, got a rabbit yesterday with the bow and a squirrel earlier in the year. With the bow i try and sneak up on rabbits and hit them while they are hidden in the brush.

RE: Tactics
Rabbit hunting is done only with my 2 beagles and a 20 gauge, and I only shoot after the dogs have circled the bunny at least one time. For squirrels I usually just sit in my deer hunting stands and pick them off with a 22. Sometimes I'll walk around and get lucky but I get the most just sitting in one good spot.
