20 Gauge Thoughts
#1
Hey yall. I have never shot any 12s and really like my 20ga Single-Barrel H&R Topper 58
with a 26" barrel. Its very handy. Anyway, just how good is the 20 gauge? Is it versatile, I mean,
how much can it do? Thanks for any replies.

Georgian,
I used to live just south of Savannah and hunted the area around Fort Stewart. I use an Remington 870 Exress Magnum chambered in 20 gauge. That little popgun has taken many ducks, Turkey and Deer there. It's not about how big the load of shot is but whether you can hit what your aiming at and how comfortable you are. There has been many mornings in the flooded cypress stands that guys with thier 12's started the day laughing at my 20 but on nearly every occasion I was the first to fill my bag of ducks, take my Tom or havea deer on the back bumper. Stick with what you are comfortable with.

The 20 is a great gau. I use my 20 for decoying ducks , dove ,pheasants and rabit .If you can hit birds with it shoot it and don't worry. A 12 just throws more shot ,it's not how mutch it's what you bo with it ! For big ducks and geese a 12 is a big advanage, but if you are not shooting geese go hunting and have fun.

Thanks yall. Maybe yall could help me on another thing. I am looking into getting a new shotgun. Either pump or double. In 20 or 12 really havent decided which, although I do feel comfortable with the 20. I am looking at the Stoeger Uplander double with 26" barrel in 12 or 20. Could yall give me your opinons of this gun and whether I should go with a pump or a double barrel? If yall can, if would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
