were ready here- their adding a couple ponds at our place, that should pull in loads of birds- watering holes are abig key to killing lots of birds, w/o them youll see some, but with, youll have loads more.

I travel for the dove opener. The word is that there a lot of birds this year. We are hunting some watermellon fields. When the birds shut down there are plenty of rotting watermellons to blast.

I live in southern Kentucky and the dove are attracted to millet. Once it falls they flock in from all around. Huntin over a water source is a great set up ecspecially during the dry month of september.

Our season always falls on "Labor" day weekend. What we do is plant milo/maize and after we combine it we bail it leaving us with some great cover. As soon as the milo heads out we are covered in birds. There is no excuse for you not to shoot 2-3 boxes in a morning. Birds will be flying in from every direction and it's difficult to keep your gun loaded. Last year we had roughly 15-18 guys on an 80 acre field and everyone of us limited out totalling over 270 birds in one day. This year we start on the first and we'll hunt through Monday. Roughly 1200 birds will be harvested by my group alone, and that is not a difficult goal for us to obtain.

My mouth is already beginning to water!

8more days!
