Good info from porknbeans. Jared, I live near Davenport. Ten miles north of Davenport their is a very big public hunting area. I feel since it is so close to a metro area, it gets hunted pretty hard. With it being only 2 hours from the west suburbs of Chicago, you could give it a try. Good luck.

Me and three buddies went to southwestern iowa for a three day hunt and we killed 29 birds. First two days very windy!!! Seen a ton of birds. Pretty good dog work considering conditions.

SilverGSP - Those birds don't have a chance with the four GSP's on the ground. Nice pictures. Ther are birds everywhere this year. With the snow you can really find where they are at now. Makes it much easier to hunt and find game. Going to a spot on Saturday that the owner only let's me hunt once per year. It is good!!!

Birdy - If nobody hunts it all year that means that you should hunt with a buddy. I mean after all, if you fall and get hurt nobody will find you until next year. I know CPR and first aidAND I'm available this weekend.

Wow porknbeans
I was thinking the same thing. What if there was a snow slide and you both get stuck Me and my dog sure would love to be there to help. Or what if worse happens and you hit the field and you get your limit to soon. That is no good for the dog. He needs the exercise. So if we had more people there that would raise your daily bag limit up.

LOL
JK
Have a great hunting weekend.

Porknbeans and Silver GSP, You guys are funny. Went and hunted it this weekend. Dang it was cold. The birds held tight, was done in about 1.5 hours. Their was actually a friend I take so their was two limits to get. Walking back to the truck withour bag limit, the dogs go on point, and what do you know, a covey of quail get up. So we hunted up the singles for another two hours, picked up six of those little rascals. What a day in the field that was. I'll never forget that day.

Fine, fine, I've bet shot down before. But remember, if you ever need a buddy to help you recount those memories, give me a call. Congrats on a great hunt. I actually ended up going up North for a hunt this last weekend. It was 1 degree when we started. Fortunately, the area we hunted had a tree line that blocked most of the wind making for near perfect winter scenting, hunting conditions.
