700bdl870exp. Those are some great numbers. 45 for the year already. You have to be hunting almost everyday to post those kind of numbers. Keep banging away at the ditch parrots. How many do you usually get in a year? In eastern Iowa, where the bird numbers are not as good as other parts of the state, I'll usually average 75 kills for the year and I think those are great numbers. If you keep going at you pace you will be at or around 200 for the year. WOW!!!

75 is nothing to shake a stick at! I've got a good friend in the Northeast part of the state that I'm going to see if I can't get on the family farm. I can handle driving 2 hours more than 6 1/2.

Well I just went out this morning. I was out about an hour 1/2 and got 1. The newly fallen snow helped keep them tight...or so I thought. The one I got was in a little clump of grass on a ridge next to an old railroad bed that is part of a public area near my home.My dog pointed it and I flushed from the obosite side.Took is after a2nd shot and a little bit of searching on the dogs part.At the end of that path there is a field and a large pile of brush. The dog was searching one side and about 6 or 7 hens and roosters flushed from the other side. I coouldn't tell hens from roosters as they flushed and by the time I I.D.ed them they were out of range. I could have hunted a bit more but the icey snow was a bit hard on my dogs feet since I didn't condition her very well this year. I figured I will hit it again tomarowand see what I come up with.

Oh I also saw an Owl that the dog scared out of a tree. The thing looked like it was ready to attack. AS it swooped back an forth near me me. I think if it hadn't seen me it would have attacked the dog. Pretty neat I thought.

hey all went out again and got 2 more so thats what 47 i believe well my highest # for 1 year was 2 years ago and had 113 for the season plus some cripples i couldnt find. the snow is helpful and ive found when hunting with my uncles dog if you take a seal skin sock the water proof ones and put a few slits in the top so you can tie it that it protects the dogs feet and keeps them warm and dry and i didnt really seem to bother th edog either.

I need a job like yours where I can bird hunt everyday. That's a beautiful thing. I don't know what my status is for the rest of the year. I think my dog toar his ACL. I will find out tomorrow (Friday). That sucks because it looks like this is one of the better years to hunt pheasants.

I'm going to go out and find some quail tomorrow. Thank God I have another dog to use. That's the beauty of having two dogs.

As long as you eat all that you harvest and hunt only to your limit, keep on hunting. If you are hunting to only see how many you can kill, I've got a problem with your approach. Just my opinion.
