Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

I got a Primos Freak with frictionite, and i'm always having to sand it. Is this normal do you need to break it in?
This is my first year turkey hunting, season starts April 13. I might have to wait until next year though because i have no where to hunt[:@]

Kansashunter.....No matter what surface you're using on a friction-type call (other than aluminum I guess), you'll have to continuosly sand/rough up the surface of the call, and the tip of your strikers in order to create the friction that helps make the sounds you're looking for. It's just part of using those calls. I carry drywall sanding screen for my glass call, and a piece of scotchbrite to rough up my slate in a ziplock bag along with chalk for my box calls.

Welcome to the sport....it's totally addicting.

Good luck on finding some property. I guess I take having a lot of state and federal land to hunt on for granted.

Where do you live in KS? I live in CO and have hunted in a lot of places in KS. KDWP has a ton of property to hunt between state wild life areas and walk-in properties. I have killed Rios and Easterns in KS. Check out:

Go hunt!

Mr. Moose,
YesI noticed that with the Primos crystal. I had to sand very often, but it sounded very good too.
