Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Roosted birds

There is a flock of turkey I have been watching for weeks. I know their daily routines, from when they fly off of the roost to when they fly back on the roost. This morning I went to watch them and they were not there. So I hike down off of the mountain to see if they were bumped off of the roost. I get down to the roosting trees and start looking for tracks. And l find a set of human tracks, it was snowing and raining all morning so the tracks were pretty fresh. Pretty soon a man comes down a dirt road so I am assuming that he bumped the birds. So my question is this, do you think the birds will be back? or will it be a game of hit and miss maybe they will maybe they won't?

They will be back. I'd be wondering if the man would be.

I am sure that the other guy is a turkey hunter. I am just confussed as to why he is bumping the birds and not watching their habbits.

I hunt a farm where they own a border collie. On nice sunny days the owner's wife will sometimes go for bush walks instead of down some groomed trails by thier farm. That dog "bumps" turkey's off the roost, off the ground, and out of the feilds. At first I thought this was bad but what are going to do, it's their land. After I found that they ALWAYS come back I stopped worrying about it.
