Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Rear sight? Ummm... what rear sight?

I bought another turkey shooter... a Browning BPS 3 1/2", but one with just a basic bead front. My other turkey gun has factory fiber optic / rifle style sights on it, in contrasting colors, that I really like.

So, I'm looking for fixed sights... ones that mount to the rib... specifically a rear, since I can buy a fiber optic front that will thread into the exisiting threaded hole where the front bead now resides on the Browning.

I'd value some opinions on this one, since what I've seen locally is junk, some of which I wouldn't bolt onto a BB gun. Thanks all... 'preciate it.

Wow... been a day and no opinions? I've been scouring the web and thus far, the Williams machined aluminum sight for ye old vent rib looks like the ticket. Anyone use a Williams? Ok... how about a Robin? Robin Williams... the comedian. (insert laugh here) [8D]

I thought I posted it last night[] Sorry I must have forgot to hit OK. I've got the Williams Fire Sight on both guns and I love 'em Had the TRUGLO one before and had trouble with them. I see they now have improved on their design so I'm not say they're no good. I've got to resize the pic so bare with me a minute and I'll get it posted on here.

Now that's what I'm talkin' about! A nice pic within a pic... shows the detail very well. That Rhino's supa nice too, but ya know someting, it would look WAY better sticking outta my gun. [8D]

Seriously though, those sights do appear to be exceptionally well built. I appreciate the time you spent to post 'em for me to skee-rootin-eyes. (I know, obviously hooked on phonics didn't wurk 4 me.) You really just did that so I'd sell something just to buy a Rhino dincha?

I've been on the fixed sight kick ever since that nasty little visit to the ER couple years back... http://forum.hunting.net/asppg/tm.as...2&key=&#963196

I've tried the older Truglo's too, but I'm a bit hesitant after what they were like, coming loose and a rear that shifted all over the place. I've heard they made some improvements, but I'm still gun shy about 'em. Looks like I'm gunna hafta go Williams. Especially since you got 'em... seeinz that ain't fair and all. Hey, hows 'bout letting me borrow that choke tube for a week or two, say around the first week of May?

Well that's what happened to my TruGlo sight [] Called in a gobbler, put the gun on him and I had no front sight! It fell completely off my gun somewhere from my house to the base of that pine and I was[:@] I still thumped that gobbler good that morning

These sight can be a pain in the butt to put one but not imposable! They kinda clamp on the rib and they're solid! Sorry but not a chance on the letting you borrow it for May! I need it for the 1st of May (VT opener) and for the 3rd of May (NH opener) After that I'm done for the season. Where in central PA are you? I'm from Gettysburg and in a few week I'll be heading to WV and back home for a few days. Can't turkey hunt this season so I'm heading down just to visit and have a few drinks with friends at camp.

I've used the truglo sights for my 1100 mainly for rabbit hunting. I too had the problem of them falling off. I used them for about 2 years without it falling off. They do provide a great luminous light and have great visibility on the barrell. I just recently purchase a new set just the other day. They are different from what I have used in the past. It seems as if they have an abbrasive glue-type material, unlike the magnets on the older version I was using. They are also more tight to the rib on the barrell as well so after placing them on the gun they feel quite solid to me. It was about $30, but it was packaged with their gobble stopper extreme vented choke tube... which is what I was wanting to purchase in the first place, so the fiber optic sights were just a bonus. Not a bad price. I'm going to field test them both this spring and see how well they produce this year. I'll keep you guys posted.

I'm just about in the center of the state. Bordering Jefferson and Clearfield counties is where I hunt... 'bout 50 miles from State College and as many miles west from Clarion. Not hard to find really, I-80 rolls right by. Stop over for a hunt sometime if ya find yourself in the neighborhood. Gotta warn ya, It'll be on public ground, so remember to bring your track shoes for these turkeys. Heck, I'll even promise to shoot 'em in the head.

I did manage to find a set of Williams... a local gun dealer had one that was at the back of the rack, said he forgot he had it, and I got it. Real nice indeed. I found out what ya mean about bolting it on... but I'll say this... it ain't gonna move. Super solid and the adjustments to the rear are very positive. Gathers light like a sponge too. Thanks again for the direction. Now about that choke... [8D]

Not sure if I can hunt public land, don't know how to hunt them if they're not running in waving flags Sorry[&o]the instigating half of me shows up every now and then

My wife and I travel through there once in a while heading to Pittsburgh! Truth is I hate to drive I-80 but sometimes it's better than the PA turnpike. Glad to hear you found the sight and that you got away with buying it You did get away with it right? Well if you didn't and she not talking to ya right now don't worry, it doesn't last long What do you shoot now for a choke tube and gun? I do have a JellyHead and a Kicks that you could try if you shoot a Remington. Sorry but I don't think I'll be giving up that Rhino for a long time

If I head through your neck of the woods in March I'll email ya and maybe let you see what it does in person. Hope you enjoy the new sights!!
