Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Heavy and slow VS lighter and fast?

Which do you perfer. a shell loaded with more shot and slower.
Or a lighter payload at a higher volicity?

I like and both of my guns like federal 3in mag #4 2oz loads.
but it shoots nearly as good with federal 3in. #5 1 3/4 oz loads.

The ones i have killed with the #4 loads droped like a ton of briks.

Faster and less .....gives me a bit more added yardage accuracy if needed and offers more punch to the pellet.

Also the reason I went to #4s. Have put away my 3.5 inch and only hunt the 12 ga 3 inch.

Check out www.nitrocompany.com There's some info on a page about energy and velocity required to cleanly kill a turkey. Great info and even better shells.

Click on "Proper Test Patterning" and scroll down to "Advanced Tech..."

Basically, I guess it would depend on what patterns best out of your gun.

I shoot kind of in the middle. I use 3 1/2" Hevi-Shot magnum #5's with 2 ounces of shot. I think heavier is better because it hits harder.
