How do you score a turkey? Differance between typical and non-typical?

I think your joking, but there is a way of scoring turkeys. I think the NWTF website have a calculator that you just enter weight, beard and spur length and it gives a score.

add the weight, double the beard, and 10 times the average of the spurs.

Lets say you have a 20 lb turkey with a 10 1/2 inch beard and one spur at 1 1/4 inch and 1 spur at 1 3/4 inches (to make the math easier)

weight=........................................... .20
beard x 2=.........................................21
spur= [(1 1/4 + 1 3/4)divided by 2]x 10...15
.................................................. ..---
.............................................score 56

I couldn't find the "oficial" scoring, but I think this is one of the more common formulas.

Can someone confirm this for us?

The example bird that Barefoot used would score 71.0. Weight and beard formula used was correct. The spurs are scored separate. So 20+21+12.5+17.5. it's 10X for each spur.
