RE: Scoring a Turkey
I think your joking, but there is a way of scoring turkeys. I think the NWTF website have a calculator that you just enter weight, beard and spur length and it gives a score.

RE: Scoring a Turkey
add the weight, double the beard, and 10 times the average of the spurs.
Lets say you have a 20 lb turkey with a 10 1/2 inch beard and one spur at 1 1/4 inch and 1 spur at 1 3/4 inches (to make the math easier) weight=........................................... .20 beard x 2=.........................................21 spur= [(1 1/4 + 1 3/4)divided by 2]x 10...15 .................................................. ..--- .............................................score 56 I couldn't find the "oficial" scoring, but I think this is one of the more common formulas. Can someone confirm this for us? Edited by - barefoot on 02/24/2002 22:43:45 Edited by - barefoot on 02/24/2002 22:44:56 |
RE: Scoring a Turkey
The example bird that Barefoot used would score 71.0. Weight and beard formula used was correct. The spurs are scored separate. So 20+21+12.5+17.5. it's 10X for each spur.
