I use a red dot scope on my 835 and love it. I don't see a problem in using the scope for deer hunting as well, but you definitely need to pattern it with buck shot or set it to slugs.

You may. You'll need to pattern the gun and then adjust the scope to get the center of the most dense part of your pattern into the kill zone of the turkey. This may vary from buckshot to turkey shot and from shell manufacturer in either. I hope this makes sense, in a nut shell, different loads pattern different in the same gun. Hope this helps.

I have my Winchester 1300 set-up with a Leupold 1X4 shotgun scope.
Like you, I use mine for both turkey and deer huting just by switching barrels!! The scope is permanently mounted to the reciever of my gun!!
