Default Need opions quickly Mossberg835 vs. Stoegger 2000

I have finally narrowed down between these two guns. Both are camo stock. The mossberg ultramag handles all shells, but the stoegger is a semi auto and $100 more.

Any advice from previous experiences would be great. Going to buy one very soon.

I would go with the 835. It is a heck of a turkey gun. I love the factory backboring.

I got the Stoeger 2000 for Christmas and haven't shot a shell through it. That's going to change tomorrow if the creek don't rise. I have 5 different shells to pattern. BTW mine came with an extended tube choke that can handle hevi-shot. I called Benelli to make sure.

Added a recoil pad and sling today. Ready to go!

TimberRidge,

I normally hunt turkeys' with a Win. Model 1300 Turkey, but last year I got a deal on a Stoger 2000 . I used it duck hunting this past season and liked it. Our Turkey season started last Saturday, 20 Mar 04, on the 22nd I got a gobbler with it and got another with it today, 24 Mar 04. So far I'm well satisfied with it. I've got a friend that swears by the 835 and has had good luck with it.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not retiring the Win 1300, it has taken a bunch of ducks and Turkeys' over the years. Just trying the Stoger because it was a semi auto and cheap.

I really like my 835. Not sure how versatile it is---mine is set up for turkey hunting only---but it is a real turkey thumper. Having grossly misjudged distance twice---I rolled 2 longbeards beyond 50 yards with Winchester HV #4's.

I just bought my 835 camo at wally world.

Best price around. They knocked 10% off for a display model.

Walked out the door at $270.00!

The 835 only needs a good cleaning, a trip to the range to check pattern and make sure the factory fiber optic sights are on and clean it again and go hunt. Ready in a few hours! With the Ulti Mag it's a great 30-35 yard gun right out of the box.
