hi i was considering buying a new bow.I was thinkingPSE it'll be used for deer and turkey mostly but possibly moose down the road. here in Ontario our archery season includes crossbows.my brother already has an Excalibur Phoenix crossbow with a scope. but the thing is its just like a gun .I'm kinda leaning towards a bow (even though they are in the same price range) because i enjoy the challege my old Ben Pearson compound has brought. what would you guys do? Bow or Crossbow?? and what do you think of the PSE bows?? is there any others you recommend??

I shoot a PSE Typhoon. It is not a high $ bow by any means. I am happy with it since it is very quiet and forgiving. I am very comfortable with it.
Hoyt and Mathews bows will cost you around $900 dressed. The PSE about $450-500 dressed.
I can use the money elsewhere.
Good luck!

No offense to those who use a crossbow but i frown upon crossbows. I wish they would include crossbow in the gun seasons of the year and not allow them in the archery season. I would go with the PSE. Ive heard some good things. Personally I'm getting a new Hoyt after this season. The high country has done its job and needs to be retired.

PSE makes a great bow. I tried the vengence , the primos, and the browning illusion. The prices were anywhere from 600 to 650 dollars. I ended up buying the illusion, and it is made by pse. Go to your local archery shop and give them a try. Good luck

I shot PSE's since the early 70s. They're a great bow, but the real deal is the company. Their customer service has long been recognized(even by their competitors) as THE BEST. The do make a wide variety of bows in a wide variety of price ranges. Even so, they appear to be well made from top to bottom. I bought a Darton the last time I bought a bow. I guess I was just ready for a change. No real reason,... I just did it. I still have a couple of my old PSE's and use one as my back up. It's tuned and practiced with and ready to go. It's a killing machine. I've been into bows for 35 years. A crossbow isn't what I call a bow so I don't have any experience with them. I've hunted with people that use them. That's a choice you have to make.

I just bought a New Hoyt and love it. It's not a top of the line Hoyt, but it's a great bow. I started with a PSE and like it, but it was an older PSE and it was time to upgrade this year. I found a great deal on a Hoyt UltraMag...I think it was a sale, but with sights, quiver, wrist sling and all the basics and it was priced at $459 + tax. I like the Hoyt better then the PSE, but I think they're both good. Do like the other say, go try some out, most bow shops will let you shoot a few to see what you like.
