Hey Guys,
Went this am(3/23) Actually got on a bird that was gobbling his fool head off. Then I realized he had company. about 6-8 of the longest scaley legged ladies you ever did want to see! They took him the other way.

I will be coming through the Augusta area the first week of April, and am looking for a place to hunt on Sat. April 3. Actually, any place along the I-20 corridor between Augusta and Atlanta is good.
Any of you guys have any suggestions or pointers on WMAs in that area? Private land help would be pushing it, I know, but I could reciprocate by hooking you up with a rio or merriams hunt in UT.

Gave Yucci a try on Wednesday morning. Honestly, as far as I could tell, there were at least 10 different gobblers hammering away around first light.....in every direction around me. I was there from an hour before sunrise until almost 12:30, and there was still gobbling going on. I tried my best but couldn't get a single gobbler to head to my decoy set-up. I did get a couple hens up close enough to see that they were hens but they lost interest and wandered back into the woods. I'm gonna give it another try next week sometime and see how it goes. I believe the boys already have the girls and don't want to wander away looking for more. Soon....Very soon.

Well yall,
Finally, after almost 13 years since I left Maryland, Ive finally shot another turkey. Although Ive taken a few in the mountains of Maryland. This Georgia Gobbler, sure feels like my first turkey ever. It was an awesome morning to be in the woods. I was truly blessed this Sunday morning.
There really is no great story. Other then text book turkey hunt.
I was parked in the middle of this big dog leg shaped field at 5:30 am. I was prepairing my hunting gear while standing there and making sure I had what I needed. At about ten till six , I thought I heard one gobble at a real owl hoot way off torge the south. So I honked my truck horn to see if he would shock gobble and I if I could get a bead on his location. No response. So I decided to head that way anyway across the field. Fifty yards from my truck as I was walking, a gobbler behind me on the other side the field gobbled at some crows who just started crowing. He was alot closer then the other one, but I would need another gobble to be sure. So I hoofed it over about 150 yards to the edge of the woods to listen. Gobble sounds like he was up over on the ridge 200 yards, but on down the ridge and off our property by about a hundred yards. So I went down about 20 yards from the bottom of the ridge and stoped at a big oak tree to do some soft yelps on my Kaiser Kalls zebrawood glass call from Andy Kaiser. Instant gobble. I figured about right, only he was closer then I thought. Not wanting to bump him, I sat down and got set up. I called again and he gobbled. I pulled out my video camara, because I wanted to at least get my calling on taped for evaluation later on. After about five minutes, a turkey flew down on my side of the ridge, close to where I just walked through. Dont know what it was, but it went the gobblers way but stayed up on my side of the ridge. A few minutes and gobbles later I heard my gobbler fly down
I called several more times over the next ten minutes and he answered back with gobblesabout every other series of yelps. About 6:25 when I thought he went the other way or hung up. Here comes a turkey running down the ridge at about 80 yards I seen a beard, so he was bigg enough to shoot. His direction was headed behind me, when he got in the thick stuff in the bottom a followed him turning to my left.
He poped in a hole at about 30 yards and rolled him with a load of 3" magnum Winchester Supreme #4's turkey load.
I was on top of him in about two seconds, he flopped for a few seconds and that was it.
[8D] 18lbs. 9 inch beard and 15/16 inch spurs.
After using the NWTF measuring system and a fish scale to get the correct weight , I've updated the measurments. I tried using a house hold scale, but his head was on the ground. And a regular Stanley tape measure didnt work to go for the spurs as you will see a 6in. rule is better for the spur measuring.
I'll post a picture later.
Another one gobbled while I was sitting there looking at the bird and packing up. So I cxovered him up with leaves and sat back down and called some. No doing after a few minutes of no response, so I decided I was done and headed out. When I came out the woods into the field the sun was just coming over the tree tops at the end of the field.
I thanked the good lord above what was a truely beautiful start to another day.
And remember yall Kaiser Kalls can make you sound like a pro, even if your an average joe hunter like me
