Default Turkey gun??????????

I just bought a new 11-87 premier 12 gauge, and was wondering if i could hunt turkey with it. i have never hunted turkey and want to try this spring. i can pick up a camo or black synthetic gun if it makes a huge difference, but would the wood hurt that bad? also, my 11-87 shoots 2 3/4 and 3" loads. what kind of shell would you recommend for it? if i were to get a camo gun, i would proaly go with a charles daly auto loader, just because of the price range. thanks for you opinions...

That gun will serve you well for turkey hunting. Get some vinyl camo tape and an extra-full turkey choke and have at it. The camo tape goes on easy and comes off easy, won't mess with your finish and if you rub on a little WD-40 before applying, you won't have rust. I used it for several years, over and over again. An after-market turkey choke with the right load, will bring it in line with the best camo turkey gun. As far as the best loads, that's going to be up to your gun. Try Winchester first. Their high velocity loads seem to pattern well in a lot of guns, but try Federal and Remington too. Each gun is a rule onto itself. Good luck and have fun.

I've had great luck with the Winchester Max #6's in 3" out of my 870. Good luck!

For a 12 gauge 2 3/4" I use Winchester supreme double X mags. #6 shot 1 5/8 oz.

#6's pattern the best in my gun and I've killed a bunch of turkeys with 6's. But now I use #4's. I get less holes in the target, but much more impact per pellet at longer ranges.
