Turkey Hunting Whether it's spring or fall doesn't matter to this bunch. Great tips on calling, bustin flocks, using blinds and more.

Default Grand Slam Question

Would you count a Jake as part of your grand slam?

Don't see why not.Regardless of what it is ( jake or gobbler) you had to work your butt off to get it.Besides that it is still a turkey of a subspecies.

I would count a Jake in a Grand Slam. If that was your only chance to hunt that sub-species. For me, If it was and eastern, since I hunt in Iowa and will every year I wouldn't count it but If it was any other species I would.

the term "grand slam", was coined by turkey call magazine in 1988 i believe, and they state that any turkey taken legally can count towards that subspecies.
