last year was really strange, i have never seen so many silent gobblers come in before. i would get one gobble far off, then nothing, but within 5 mintues, boom he would be 30 yards from me, and didnt make another sound. needless to say, i got busted several times by this.
do you guys think this comes from hunting pressure, or something else?

Something else , But I don't know what !
I've always wondered if Gobbling activity that slows is more do to the hens and where or not there are doing much calling. Turkeys tend to have times when they are just quiet in areas and others they seem to be gobbling. Remember if there is hens aound the area Gobblers don't have to Gobble to attract hens.I also believe that presure weather fronts play a roll aswell...BT

They wern't gobbeling last season either. I think it was because there were an increase in foxes and yotes, and the turkeys didn't want to be bothered by them. My friend had quite a few yotes and foxes come to his calling.
