Mike,I let the bird determine how to play it.If I have a choice though,I love to just go nuts on calls. The more you hammer a bird the more he hammers back.Don't like it to be over too quickly either.I worked a bird one time that my buddy shot, took 2 hrs and 4 setups.Till it was over there were 2 longbeards,1 jake and 2 hens involved.I blew the reeds out of 1 call and the roof of my mouth was bleedin and my wrist was sore from workin a slate at the same time.I loved it.So to answer your question,Deep down I'm an aggressive hunter.

I also tend to lean towards Aggrestion. It also depends on how the bird reacts to calling, a sucessfull hunter has to be able to flex himself with different hunting situations and terrain. Jalvja's right he is aggressive too , should of seen him trying to get that Gun from me last spring at Phil's place ! when that gobbler was coming in <img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>...BT

I tend to lean toward passive, but I certainly go aggressive if I believe I can get away with it.

I to think it depends on the bird you hunt. Most of the birds i hunt are on heavily hunted public land and get hammered by a lot of different callers. So i take the passive route alot.

One would think I was on a jungle patroll the way I go to the bird. I sit in the shadows and give a sleepy hen then give it a good cluck on two and see what happens. sometime the Toms are right around the corner and sometime they are across the creek. I try to get in position. It may be just to sit or it may be to crawl or to get on a full run. Last year, Me and a friend looked like O. J. Simpson in the airport ad., running and jumping logs, etc to get to a bird. When we stopped we were not sure where he was....He cut lose on a Gobble 50 yards out. We spazzed out for a min. then got ourselves together and I elected to call and my friend shot. 30 Min later he had a nice Tom with a 8 1/2 inch mopp and 1 inch spurs.
It was GREAT !!!!

GC alot of us have much in common here!Much of my calling has to do with a birds response back to me.If I had to pick one I'd have to say passive.I always seem to start slow in trying to work a birds temperature into an alltime high.Being versatile with your calls and calling in understanding a birds response is really key I believe in moving a bird your way.I've always been one who believes to much emphasis is put on calling and calls.I put more of my energy into my position and set-ups than calling. If your not in the right position, your chances no matter how good of caller you are, aggressive or not, your in for a long mornin.Good post GC!!
